Structure & Content

The programme is delivered over four semesters, spanning two academic years. You will complete three core modules in Semester One, three core modules in Semester Two, and two core modules plus one elective in Semester Three. The final semester is dedicated to completing a dissertation.

Assessment combines formative assessment (60%) and summative assessment (40%), using a variety of methods including essays, projects, presentations, group work, and reflective analysis.

    Programme Details

    The MSc in Strategic Information Systems focuses on the strategic use of technology, governance, and information systems to drive business value. The programme equips graduates with a strong blend of technical, analytical, and leadership skills required for success in the Information Systems sector.

    You will develop expertise in business analysis, digital transformation, data management and analytics, project management, and enterprise systems, with a strong emphasis on governance, security, and ethics. A research module supports independent thinking and academic writing at master’s level.

    Students choose one elective to tailor their studies, and complete a dissertation that allows deeper exploration of a specialist area or emerging technology, including its ethical and strategic impact.

    At the end of this programme, you will be able to:

    • Identify, analyse, and resolve Information Systems (IS) challenges within organisational environments.
    • Align IT solutions with long-term business strategies to support organisational goals and improve effectiveness.
    • Evaluate the wider societal impact of technology, demonstrating awareness of sustainability, ethical considerations, and responsible digital practices.
    • Design, implement, and manage strategic information systems that enable efficient processes and informed decision-making.
    • Apply effective IS governance and risk management practices to protect organisational information assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Use appropriate project management methodologies and tools to deliver Information Systems projects successfully.
    • Integrate business, technological, and human considerations in IS decision-making to ensure systems are relevant, usable, and aligned with user and organisational needs.

    Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree at NCQF Level 8.

    Access may also be granted through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

    and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) in accordance with ETP policies.
